Real Zaragoza striker,
Ikechukwu Uche as well as Russia-based striker, Obafemi Martins have been
called up by Nigeria for the August 11 friendly against Korea while 13 players
who played at the last World Cup in South Africa were dropped from the squad.
In a statement from the
Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Uche and Martins are among foreign-based
pro-fessionals picked for the friendly, while 22 other players have been picked
from the local league.
Two-goal hero at the 2010
FIFA World Cup in South Africa, Kalu Uche and goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama, who
was undoubtedly one of the best goalies at the World Cup lead the foreign-based
contingent, who also includes midfielders John Mikel Obi, Dickson Etuhu and Haruna
Lukman, as well as forwards Osaze Odemwingie, Joseph Akpala and Obinna Nsofor.
There are also defenders
Danny Shittu, Ayodele Adeleye and Elderson Echiejile.
Bayelsa United goalkeeper,
Bassey Akpan, leads the home-based contingent, which also has defender, Terna
Suswam, midfielders, Gabriel Reuben and Solomon Okpako and strikers Ahmed Musa,
Gbolahan Salami, King Osanga and Eugene Salami.
The home-based groups are
expected to arrive at the Summit Hotel, Kado, Abuja camp of the team on Friday,
July 23.
Meanwhile, National U-20
team coach, John Obuh, is expected to lead the Super Eagles for the friendly.
